A bridge is a road. A cable with a man on each end is a gate.
The bridge went out in the flood. Inside a week somebody strung a steel cable from a dead oak to a post on the far shelf and hung a boat under it.
That is all a river needs to become a wall. One line, one boat, men where the road leaves the water.
Camp Ridge held a wall all winter. It has never stood on the wrong side of one.
