FIELD NOTE
Seven people, thirty rounds, no food, and a dog on a litter, walking into country nobody mapped.
The Wardens gave the rifles back counted, line by line, and that was all the family left with. Three rifles. Five pistols. Thirty-odd rounds. A wound kit thinner by three days of cots.
No food. The settlement fed them while they worked, and the work is over.
A hundred and ten pounds of dog on a litter, carried by the two strongest hands in the group.
EP029 releases this weekend, Part One Sat, Part Two Sun.
Season Two runs two parts to an episode. Paid subscribers get each part the day it drops. Free subscribers wait a week.
The field note continues below for paid subscribers.
