Wow! Had to catch my breath at the end. I don't about anyone else, but when the Mystery Man dropped that veiled threat, I'm putting rounds thru the door! Great job! NEXT!!
Wow Chris! What an awesome first episode. Not to take anything away from any of the characters in the story, but felt like Mark never knew Sarah, his wife, he had married. While her humanity is so evident, she is so much a loving wife, mother, and organizer of the family nucleus. Casey is such a loving and loyal dog,and so much of the Smith family. Never knew you had these writing creativity skills. I say that as a true compliment. I am hooked on this series, and look forward to how this saga will evolve as time goes by. Bless yourself,Cindy, your canines, and all at Survival Dispatch News.
Thanks John.\! Mark represents the average American man who lives in the corporate world and doesn't possess the skills like we do, and in reality doesn't know his wife near as well as he should. That's on purpose and you'll see why as the series unfolds. I've written the first 104 episodes and I foresee writing many more!
What an awesome realistic story thanks Chris. I have anxiety right now at the end and now I’m gonna think all night who’s in the house? What’s gonna happen? Is he going to be up there waiting for them. he could burn the house down multiple things could happen. I’m sitting here running through my head what my options would be if I was in that basement. It is not a good place to be for them right now.
Good story. Wife is a bit redundant and pushy regardless of the reason. Her constant repeating and asking other to repeat back got a bit much. Just MHO! But it's your story and I am enjoying it
Wow Chris! My breathing slowed and I was laser focused, hanging on every detail I was hearing. I’m a visual person and this was like watching a movie, but in audio. Thinking of things I haven’t thought of, things I have. Mark not fully taking Sarah seriously is probably very common in a lot of households. Relatable story in a lot of ways. I can’t wait to hear more! Well done!
The surreal thing about episode 1 is I lived in Cherokee County and am now just I county north in Pickens..... so this kind of has a "hits home" feeling to it.....
I came up with the idea for the Smith family just over a year ago. I started writing episodes about seven months ago. When I was mapping out the character bible and deciding where to position the Smiths, Canton made a sense for a bunch of reasons. I wanted Mark to work in a big city like Atlanta but I wanted the family to be in the suburbs and I wanted it to be somewhere I'm familiar with that isn't Florida or Texas. Since we have a cabin in North GA, choosing Atlanta and Canton made sense. Both you and JJ Morris crossed my mind when I chose the location. I've written 104 episodes so far and will be diving into the next batch soon.
I was hanging on every word. Had my blood pressure up a bit, a couple of times. I agree with nuthinspecial. I was on edge waiting for just another slight indicator that I needed to put rounds through that door. The only reason not to would be the door not being airtight anymore. After a minute of thought, we can reseal it.

Right! You'll have to tune in again tomorrow to learn who it was. Maybe. ;)
Completely hooked. Loved it. Can’t wait for the next one.
I appreciate that very much. Episode two drops tomorrow!

Well, that hit close to home.. I grew up in Marietta near Dobbins and I live in Cherokee County in Canton… Sarah was on top of it!
Mark has a lot of learning to do! Pretty sure they're going to run into you in a future episode not too far down the road.

Thank you sir! That was precisely what I was going for.
The first episode is good enough to bitchslap the complacency out of just about anybody and enough to get people hooked! 👍👍
Now that's funny! Thank you!
Very well done Chris!!! Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Jeff!
That was even better than I thought it would be. Top notch!
I'm glad you liked it Doug! Thank you.

That's actually by design to set the personas right out of the gate. It won't be like that all the time. Thank you!

I appreciate your kind words very much!
This was good, Chris!
And I've listened to almost all audiobooks (DVD and Audible Audio), since 2010 on this genre.
I appreciate that very much John!
