Reilly moved every position that had fired. The wall leaders call it the shell game, and that is what it is.
For an hour it worked, and the guns out in the dark hammered empty sandbags.
Then, in one minute, the fire lifted off the empty ground and came down on the real positions. On a line that had moved three hours before. On a gun that had never fired.
