Camp Ridge went into the fire with a hundred and three people, a winter’s stores, a wall leader with two eyes, a preacher, and its oldest soldier.
Two days later it is eighty-odd souls with a day of food walking toward a cellar, and seven with nothing in their pockets standing in front of a book.
That is the bill so far. The river added a line to it.
