The Reviews Are In - Remnant Hit Harder Than I Hoped
Episodes 1 & 2 dropped this weekend. Here's what listeners are saying & what's coming next.
When I set out to build Remnant, the goal was simple. Tell a story that doesn’t flinch. Build characters that feel like people you actually know. And do it all from a worldview that puts faith, family, and preparedness at the center — not as window dressing, but as the spine of the whole thing.
The launch weekend exceeded every expectation I had.
The reviews started rolling in within hours. And they didn’t read like the polite “good job” comments you get on a typical podcast launch. People were gripped.
A few that stopped me in my tracks:
“Wow Chris! What an awesome first episode. Not to take anything away from any of the characters in the story, but felt like Mark never knew Sarah, his wife, he had married. While her humanity is so evident, she is so much a loving wife, mother, and organizer of the family nucleus. Casey is such a loving and loyal dog, and so much of the Smith family. Never knew you had these writing creativity skills. I say that as a true compliment. I am hooked on this series, and look forward to how this saga will evolve as time goes by. Bless yourself, Cindy, your canines, and all at Survival Dispatch News.” — John P. Fernandez
“Wow Chris! My breathing slowed and I was laser focused, hanging on every detail I was hearing. I’m a visual person and this was like watching a movie, but in audio. Thinking of things I haven’t thought of, things I have. Mark not fully taking Sarah seriously is probably very common in a lot of households. Relatable story in a lot of ways. I can’t wait to hear more!” — Angela
“I was hanging on every word. Had my blood pressure up a bit, a couple of times. I agree with nuthinspecial. I was on edge waiting for just another slight indicator that I needed to put rounds through that door. The only reason not to would be the door not being airtight anymore. After a minute of thought, we can reseal it. Very well done Chris!” — Rama Collier
“And I’ve listened to almost all audiobooks (DVD and Audible Audio), since 2010 on this genre.” — John Treibel
“1. Powerful . . . riveting . . . educational . . . very well written and spoken. 2. Bravo Zulu, Chris!” — Justin Case
“Outstanding! I could close my eyes and easily picture the Smith family. Have to admit it brought some emotion.” — Edward Hasko
“Loved it! I envisioned everything happening. Awesome just Awesome! Can’t wait until the next set of episodes.” — cynthia harding Q
“That was even better than I thought it would be. Top notch!” — Doug Wolfe
“Wow. Just Wow.” — Samantha Evans
That last one might be my favorite. Sometimes three words say more than three paragraphs.
Why this matters
This isn’t the reaction of an audience that needed convincing. It’s the reaction of an audience that’s been waiting for this kind of story. Faith-forward. Suspenseful. Grounded in the realities of preparedness. People recognized themselves in the Smith family because the Smith family was built from the bones of real American households.
What’s coming this week
Episodes 3 and 4 drop this weekend. Saturday and Sunday. Back to back.
If you thought the first two episodes ended on a knife’s edge — buckle up.
Between now and then, I’m releasing exclusive behind-the-scenes content, in-world materials, and a few things only paid subscribers will get to see. If you haven’t subscribed yet, this is the week to do it. The story is just getting started, and the people on the inside are going to experience it differently than everyone else.
A note to the Remnant audience
To everyone who listened, reviewed, shared, and subscribed this weekend — thank you. This series exists because you exist. Because there’s a remnant of Americans who still believe that being prepared isn’t paranoia, that faith isn’t a relic, and that storytelling can do more than entertain. It can prepare hearts and minds for what’s coming.
Episode 3 drops Saturday.
Stay sharp. Stay faithful.
Godspeed,
Chris Heaven, CEO
